Mentioned on Ep 01: Welcome to the first episode of The Burnout Doctor Podcast! I’m talking about WHY I started the podcast today!
Welcome back to The Burnout Doctor Podcast with your host, Dr. Jessica Louie. In this episode, we’ll briefly discuss why I’m starting this podcast, how it is different than other content and who it is for – WHY, HOW, WHAT – plus, a brief intro about me. First of all, THANK YOU for taking the leap to join in on conversations with me.
I believe people are capable of incredible things…if they feel confident in their environments – home and work – and have opportunities to contribute authentically in all areas of their lives.
That is why I get up in the morning
How is that going to apply to this podcast? Why am I starting this podcast?
I’m passionate about helping people find confidence to live intentionally so we all create meaningful contributions to the world.
The motto I live by: Clarify your Purpose, Simplify your Life, Align your Goals. Lead with Confidence. Curate a Life you Love! Clarify…Simplify…Align
I went through burnout during my training and early on in my career and I didn’t have the resources, support system or even know the term for it while I was living through it.
That’s why I started this podcast. I want you to know you’re not alone. Even if you’ve never felt burnt out, you likely will sometime in your career and life, and this podcast is resource and support system for you.
Over the past 3 years, I’ve been blogging (writing articles on my websites), producing videos for YouTube and 1:1 coaching clients, I found that I consume the most content while driving – thus, producing a podcast so you can listen on the go – in your car, on your run, while cleaning the house – is an intentional and practical way to get into your earbuds, learn something new, get advice and TAKE ACTION daily!
How is this podcast unique?
There are NO advertisements or sponsorships. You have season of 8 episodes to binge listen to starting today! You’re welcome Netflix fans. You have a FREE Workbook to TAKE ACTION today! Download here.
They’ll also be limited interviews during the first seasons of this podcast. It will be me, Jessica, sitting here, being real, and having a conversation with you over coffee. Thank you for letting me into your earbuds my friends!
Who is this podcast for?
As a pharmacist myself, this podcast is here to help my fellow pharmacists.
Other healthcare professionals will of course benefit from this content as well – and with the rest of my family in the medical field – physicians – I easily relate to you as well. If you find this content helpful, please share with friends and family who may benefit – in healthcare or outside of healthcare. This is an inclusive community.
For those who don’t know me, let me share a little about myself. I’ll share my full burnout story in the next episodes of this podcast and a few fun facts in a bonus episode this season -download to listen today!
My name is Jessica Louie. I love helping women and healthcare professionals get out of overwhelm and create joyful and intentional lives.
I’m not one to voice all my credentials frequently – since they are there on LinkedIn for all to see – but for those who like the details, here they are: I hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Advanced Practice Pharmacist license in California and am board-certified in critical care.
I was born and raised in the Midwest – go Packers and then moved to the West Coast for college. I completed my Bachelor degree and Doctorate degree at University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles – Go Trojans! Fight On my friends!
I worked as an intern pharmacist at USC’s private hospital, Keck Medicine of USC during my 4 years in pharmacy school. Afterwards, I matched for my post-graduate residency training at the University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics in Salt Lake City. It’s there I completed my PGY1 in pharmacy practice and PGY2 in critical care. It was an amazing program to be apart of.
I came back to Los Angeles after my 9-year training journey and joined a new School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor at West Coast University School of Pharmacy.
After my burnout story – I’m saving that for another episode –after my burnout happened, I became a Certified KonMari Consultant.
I now combine my healthcare background with the KonMari Method – using decluttering and simplifying in my approach to resetting healthcare burnout. If you’re not familiar with the KonMari Method, I’ll be talking about it soon – you can also read her books or watch her Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.
Ok, let’s talk logistics for a moment

I’m going to be authentic with you.
I rarely edit any of my content – yes, my YouTube videos are shot on my iPhone in one take with no editing – and that is how this podcast will be produced. Think of The Burnout Doctor Podcast as a conversation over coffee. Yes, for those who know me I drink A LOT of water – please excuse sips of water on air.
That wraps of episode 1 of The Burnout Doctor Podcast.
