Affirmations are simple, short and powerful expressions.

Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind so that in turn, they affect our behavior, thinking patterns, habits, and environment.

Why are affirmations important for burnout?

Naturally, as human beings we tend to have more negative thoughts than positive thoughts. We have 50,000+ thoughts cross our brains each day. About 80% of these thoughts are negative.

  • They motivate.
  • They keep the mind focused on the goal.
  • They influence the subconscious mind and activate their powers.
  • They change the way you think and behave, and this can bring you into contact with new people, who can help you with your goals.
  • Positive statements make you feel positive, energetic and active, and therefore, put you in a better position to transform your inner and external worlds.

Write out affirmations to address burnout:

  • Write out what you want in life
    • STOP the limiting beliefs
    • STOP the stories in your brain
    • Affirmations are sentences aimed to affect our conscious AND subconscious mind so that it affects our behavior, thinking patterns, habits & environment
    • Affirmations are written in the PRESENT tense even if they haven’t happened yet
    • Remember, affirmations can change as the season of your life changes you have fulfilled that affirmation
    • Example:
      • STORY: I’ve never been smart enough
      • AFFIRMATION: I am capable of learning all that I need when I need it.
    • Other Examples
      • I am happier and healthier than I was yesterday.
      • I am resourceful and make money easily.
      • I surround myself with high-performing women.
      • I bring my best self to every situation.
      • I make $100K in my small business each year.
      • I go on vacations that spark joy.
      • I am a board-certified critical care pharmacist. (example before I was certified I stated this as an affirmation to affirm I would pass my board examinations)

How to incorporate affirmations into daily life:

  • Start small with 2 affirmation and grow to 8-10 affirmations
  • Stay consistent with repeating them
  • Make a commitment to use them daily for the next 2 weeks, then build momentum from here
  • Add them to your daily morning routine (from episode 107)
  • Start with writing them done, then say them out loud, then add a smell to go with them such as an essential oil
