Go back to episode 10 on Why you are NOT your Job Title.

Misalignment between career goals and personal goals or misalignment ethically

  • Punishing work schedules where more hours are spent working than anything else (such as family time or self-care)
  • Misalignment in your belief system about morals, ethics, politics, religion from work to personal life

Lacking Ownership of your Success

If you do not feel responsible for your win, you won’t feel satisfied by it. You have to believe you have earned it.

Lack of validation by Others

Others also have to believe you earned your success. This is the reason many healthcare professionals decide to leave the organization’s they trained out. Many new professionals are still viewed as trainees or novices even if they move up the ladder with success. Therefore, sometimes it is better to leave and take your trainer-ship (i.e. residency or fellowship) knowledge with you rather than stay and be looked at the same way the next 5-10 years of your career.

No Time to Reflect or Learn

Many times we jump from one challenge to another. We do not take the time to reflect on the experience and the win before the next one comes at us. Sometimes this is due to the organization’s pace or your new promotion role, while other times we put this on ourselves.
