Best Purchases to Make in Twenties – Best Investments in 20s as a Woman

  • Finishing all my training consecutively
  • Put my education, training and building skills first – before external forces like a relationship, marriage, children, or house – my parents always wanted me to become self-sufficient and independent – not reliant on another person (aka husband) to fund my life
  • Car maintenance – I drive a 22-year old car. In my twenties, I took care of this car. I got the regular oil changes, check-ups and regular things like tires, brakes and batteries. This helped prevent deterioration of the car AND a major expense of purchasing another car – used or new!
  • Travel – grouped with work trips. Many work places provide professional development funds to attend conferences. My husband and I strategically grouped these work trips with personal vacations to help with travel expenses. This meant that a 4-day conference in Orlando, FL could be extended to go to Disney World and the flight was covered by my work and a couple additional hotel nights was a reasonable expense personally. This also allowed us to go to Hawaii for the first time and extend our vacation from Honolulu to Maui. We stayed at nicer hotels with the conference price discounts (up to 50-60% off a 4 or 5-star hotel) – saving hundreds on what may have been a $700-1,000 a night hotel down to $300-400 a night!
  • LASIK eye surgery – https://www.petitestylescript.com/lasik-eye-surgery-experience-maloney-vision/
  • Nice bed – Temperpedic
  • Water filter

What was the BEST investment I made in my 20s as a Woman?

Contributing a large percentage to my retirement accounts each year with my work 401(k) – nearly maxing out the contribution each year from 2016. Yes, this could have been earlier in my twenties and it could have also included my ROTH IRA, but at least I started somewhere.
