All my Holiday Gift Guides!

Welcome back to The Burnout Doctor Podcast! On episode 32 we are talking about the holiday season. The holidays can be joyful times of the year, while also being overwhelming. If we are not intentional with enjoying family time and loved ones, the holiday season may pass by in a blur.

Thank you so much for all the positive comments and feedback from last week’s episode on Do you LOVE your home. I heard from some of you that it was difficult to face those 3 questions and evaluate your home situations – it was also eye-opening to look at how much of your finances were going towards your home.

Remember, decluttering our lives starts with what is closest to us – and that is usually our homes – so let’s declutter, remove distractions and feelings of overwhelm my friends. If you need help getting started or what other podcast episodes to listen to – let me know – reply back to any of my emails.

5 ways to be present during holiday gatherings

Now, I was NOT present during many family and holiday gatherings over the years. So I did I change this behavior? I set intention BEFORE going into the event. Here are my top ways to stay present

Remove phone distractions. This could mean airplane mode or silence or do not disturb.

Remove email from your phone. Wear a watch if you check your phone for the time – so you can place your phone inside your purse and out of your pockets and near you during the gathering

Remove social media distraction. No apps on your phone. Say goodbye in an IG story and add it to your highlight roll or last IG post to say you’re on a break!

Bring a REAL camera. Yes, a real camera so you don’t rely soley on your phone to take photos or videos. Yes, we take a yearly photo on my Sony alpha7 DSLR type of camera outside each holiday.

Ask yourself, who would I like to connect with and have a meaningful conversation with during this event. Yes, there could be 10, 20, 40 people there. So don’t get overwhelmed and gloss over talking to reach everyone. Set intention into how you want to FEEL and connect.

Now it’s time to take action
